Healing is not linear.
Ever since the last time I attempted to take my life, around almost a year ago, it feels as though I have lived a thousand different lives. A series of both fortunate and unfortunate events occurred and, for certain, I have been through the cycles of birth, death, and rebirth. I truly believe that in life one will never be able to truly find themselves. I do not believe in the notion that the self is found or discovered, rather the self is in constant change and growth and that is the beauty of being human.
Over the years that I have lived, my personality has never stayed still. Humans are agents of constant change, we are constantly growing and learning from the mistakes of yesterday. Whilst it is true that different versions of you exist in the minds of others, I am convinced that this is the case due to that with every new day that forms, we generate a new, different version of ourselves with each day. The timeline of our lives is not linear and neither is your growth or personality.
Acceptance is key and tolerance will set you free.
The history of mankind is not linear either, different histories exist within different regions of the world. There is no dominant history. There is no one side of the story and we certainly cannot look at one event with one angle. There are many perspectives in one event that occurs. There is no one right or wrong perspective as everyone has their own perceptions of right and wrong, each person has their individual justice system. Two wrongs does not make a right. What I perceive to be morally fair and just might not be the case for the next individual. However it does not mean that we must live in conflict with our differences.
I believe that peace comes with being able to accept and view everything with a non-judgemental lens. Judgement is detrimental and the cause of many conflicts. This perspective also applies to viewing yourself. Do not judge your thoughts and actions, accept the things that occur as they are, and live a life of truth.
Perhaps then, we will be free.
